Srinagar: In order to strengthen the routine vaccination process and expand immunization coverage to all children across Srinagar District, a meeting of District Task Force on Intensive Mission Indradhanush(IMI) Programme 5.0 was held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here on Monday at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex to finalise the action plan to achieve full immunization coverage.
Among others the meeting was attended by Programme Officer, ICDS, Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy Director Information & PR, Chief Education Officer, District immunization officer, Health Officer SMC, All Zonal Medical Officers, WHO Consultant Directorate of Family Welfare and other concerned.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was given a detailed brief about the preparations, plans and objectives of IMI 5.0 through a power-point presentation. The presentation emphasized on selecting the right beneficiaries, areas, dropouts and missed out children under the immunization process besides different basic parameters to be considered while conducting IMI 5.0 while also discussed.
On the occasion, the DC took a comprehensive feedback from Health, ICDS, SMC, RDD and other concerned Departments with regard to the measures being taken towards Measles Rubella elimination and improving routine immunization in the District.
The meeting was informed that first round of immunization under Mission Indradhanush 5.0 will commence from August 07, 2023 and continue till August 12, 2023 followed by the second round from September 11 to September 16, 2023 and third round from October 09 to October 14, 2023 to cover children aged 0 to 2 years and expecting mothers for immunization particularly covering high risks areas where nomads, labourers engaged in brick kilns and people living in slums will be taken care.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers and other stakeholders to work in synergy to ensure coverage of all drop outs under the Mission is achieved in a time bound manner. He asked the Programme Officer, ICDS to maintain close liaison with the Health Department and mobilise grassroots functionaries including Aganwadi workers for the effective implementation of the Mission Indradhanush 5.0.
During the meeting, the DC asked the Departments of Health, ICDS, SMC were asked to carry out Medical Zone, Anganwari Centre and Municipal Ward wise headcount survey in the District to Identify and enlist beneficiaries so that left out children are registered for vaccination on U-Win (win over vaccination), the platform to be used to register and vaccinate every pregnant woman and register her delivery outcome and required immunizations.
The DC also stressed on vigorous IEC campaigns and effective communication for mass mobilization at appropriate platforms for successful implementation of Mission Indradhanush 5.0 to achieve the set targets, besides ensuring actionable monitoring feedback at all levels specific to U-WIN and IMI-5.0.
Pertinent to mention that under Mission Indradhanush 5.0 vaccination against eight life-threatening diseases (diphtheria, whooping cough, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) causing pneumonia and meningitis, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B) is to be provided.
