Budgam : The District Administration Budgam in collaboration with Mission Directorate of Jal Jeevan Mission, J&K organised an extensive handholding and awareness programme under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo at Sheikh ul Alam Hall, here on Tuesday.
The programme was organised as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission Stakeholder’s Field Test KIT (FTK) Training programme.
Several stakeholders including PRIs, Pani Samiti members, Jal Shakti Department field staff, Poshan Abhiyaan, Health ASHAs and AWWs, District Project Management Unit JJM Staff, Implementation Support Agencies, water testing lab staff, and FTK Trained Women from different panchayat halqa’s took part in the sessions.
Executive Engineers PHE Division Budgam, Er Sakeel ul Ahmad and Chadoora Er. Nazia Nazir, alongside their Assistant Executive Engineers, Coordinator DPMU Er. Mudasir, and various other officers from different departments were present in the event.
During the session, DC discussed about various facets of Jal Jeevan Mission, water management, and conservation efforts. He emphasised the significance of Jal Jeevan Mission in providing sufficient, clean tap water to every household.
The DC said, these training sessions not only increase knowledge of person but make him/her more dedicated towards fulfilling the aspirations of the public .
On the occasion , the DC appreciated the role of jal Jeevan Mission team Budgam for working tirelessly and hoped that the whole project will be completed well before timeline and 100% saturation of functional tap household connections will be achieved.
During the presentation, Consultant Nizam Mansoori, Rakesh Singh from PMC elaborated on the responsibilities and obligations of different stakeholders, such as Pani samitis, and shared their exemplary water management and rainwater harvesting methods with the attendees. He encouraged them to commit to the Jal Jeevan Mission’s vision with passion and dedication.
PMC’s team provided visual assistance, highlighting the essential aspects of Jal Jeevan Mission, water harvesting, and conservation and explaining them wonderfully. In addition, they provided technical guidance on how FTK Users can upload data to the IMIS portal, leading them step-by-step on how to create a user account and upload water test reports using the mobile app.
In second part of the session, Live demonstration of Water Testing on Field Testing Kits was presented by Water Testing Staff before the stakeholders in order to train them.
Project coordinator DPMU, JJM Budgam while speaking on the occasion dealt with the issue of pollution of water bodies and said that careless dumping of waste into water bodies/ sources has aggravated the water scarcity problem and the need is to arrest this trend by community mobilization and action.
