Jammu: J&K Pollution Control Committee on Wednesday organised an interactive meet with the students of various Degree Colleges in the conference hall, JKPCC to discuss implementation of various themes laid under Mission LiFE and spreading awareness among neighborhood and general public with the help of NSS volunteers and Eco-clubs.
Pledge on Mission LiFE was taken in the beginning by all participants followed by detailed discussion with Programme Officers and NSS volunteers to initiate various activities by all degree colleges.
The program culminated with a felicitation ceremony for volunteers of Jammu University (Department of Environmental Sciences), GGM Science College, MAM College, GCW Parade, Commerce College, GDC Gandhi Nagar and Government College of Education and volunteers of Disha organization, Live for others, Organization for Youth and Development and Devika Army for their active participation during ” Save Rivers Campaign”, organized by JKPCC during Holy Navratras.
The “Save Rivers Campaign” was conducted from 29 to 30 March with focus on generating awareness among common masses regarding importance of Rivers Tawi for survival of future generations and need to save them by ensuring that no plastic / non-biodegradable material gets immersed in water
The event was presided over by Regional Director JKPCC Jammu, Sat Paul who gave a brief introduction on the work done by JKPCC in association with NSS volunteers from various colleges and NGos during “Save Rivers campaign” launched to create mass awareness for cleaner and green J&K.
He further emphasised the role of citizens in ensuring replacement of Single Use Plastics by available eco-friendly alternatives.
Divisional Officer, Jammu North, Anil Sharma, Divisional officer, Jammu South, Arshad Malik, Anuradha, Scientist, Nodal Officer Mission LiFE, JKPCC, Jammu and Programme Officers representing various colleges and representatives from NGOs were also present on the occasion.
