Ganderbal : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal on Saturday organized Legal Awareness programme on the topic “NALSA (Compensation Scheme for Women victims/ survivors of sexual Assault/ other Crimes) 2018/ J&K Victim Compensation Scheme 2019”, at Government Boys High School, Sherpathri, Ganderbal.
The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.
The Programme was spearheaded by Advocate Zulfikar Alam, who shared his valuable knowledge amongst the participants.
While deliberating on the subject the resource person said that under the said Scheme, women victim/survivors will be provided with legal aid, counseling, and other essential services to help them in their journey towards justice and healing.
The said scheme is designed to address the systemic barriers faced by women in accessing justice, and to empower them to pursue their cases against their assailants. He emphasized the importance of providing legal aid and support to women who have suffered from sexual assault/other crimes.
He stated that the NALSA Scheme is a step towards ensuring that women have access to justice and that their voices are heard. He further added that the NALSA Scheme will be implemented through legal services authorities at the district, state and national levels.
He further added that the Victim Compensation Scheme 2018 and the Jammu and Kashmir Victim Compensation Scheme 2019 aims to provide compensation to victims of crime or their dependents who have suffered loss or injury as a result of a crime. This law outlines the procedures for compensation and lays down the guidelines for determining the amount of compensation to be awarded.
Both laws are a significant step forward in ensuring that victims of crime are provided with the support they need to rebuild their lives. They recognize the physical, emotional, and financial impact that a crime can have on a person and their family, and provide a measure of justice and support.
The implementation of these laws will undoubtedly offer a sense of relief to victims of crime and their families, helping them to move forward after a traumatic experience.
