Inclement weather continues, more snow & rain during next 24 hours in J&K

Srinagar: Inclement weather continued on Sunday with Light to moderate snowfall, Rain occurred at many places even as the Meteorological office forecast generally Cloudy with light Snow/rain over scattered places of the J&K during the next 24 hours.

The MeT office said from January 24-25 moderate Snow/(rain in Jammu) & moderate to heavy Snow over middle & higher reaches and on January 26-27 partly cloudy with Light Snow/Rain at isolated places.

Overall, weather is very likely to remain erratic with cloudy, intermittent Light rain/snow till January 29 in whole of Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, had a low of 1.0 degree Celsius and it also received 0.6mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours on Sunday.

Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 6.3 on Sunday and it also received 7.3 Cms of Snow and 10.0mm of rainfall while Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of 0.2 degree Celsius and it also received 5.0 Cms of snow and 10.4mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours on Sunday.

Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 6.8 degree Celsius on Sunday and it also received 4.0 cms of snow and 4.8mm of rainfall while Kokernag had a low of minus 1.9 degree Celsius and it also received 1.5 Cms of snow and 5.9mm of rainfall during the period.

The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius and it also received 2.0 Cms of snow and 7.6mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours on Sunday, the MeT office said.
