The word “Suicide” has been derived from the latin “Suicidium”, the act of taking one’s own life. The main causes of this intentional death are mental disorders, drug menace, cultural, family and social issues. According to a survey, suicides resulted in 712000 deaths in 1990 which increased to 828000 deaths globally in 2105 thus making suicide the 10th leading cause of death worldwide. Approximately 1.5% of all deaths globally are mainly due to suicide. Suicide being a major catastrophe for families is viewed negatively across the globe but unfortunately it is no more considered a crime in most of the European countries. Though ‘Suicide Prevention day’ is observed annually on 10th of September with the support of International Association For Suicide Prevention and the World Health Organisation,still the entire world bodies till date have miserably failed in its complete prevention ,making it a grave issue globally. In order to overcome this issue one must understand two important things one is “Tawakkul’’ and the other most important thing that is ‘’Love of Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’’ – for whom the entire universe came into existence. Tawakkul is an Islamic concept of putting full reliance and trust in Almighty Allah. The holy Quran being a complete book of guidance and accepted even by the non muslims, speaks about this, success is for the believer who has full faith on Allah’s commandments. This Islamic concept is accepted by everyone but the real test is placed in the time of hardships. Suicide being deeply connected to the feeling of hopelessness and Tawakul teaches us to be hopeful in what ever the situation one may be. Being hopeful makes one overcome every kind of worldly problems and hurdles. The school going children need to be educated about this great Islamic concept-Tawakkul. The real success lies in attaining the pleasure of Allah and not the results in this world. Whether our efforts bear any visible or fruitful result in this world or not,we must continue with our full faith in Almighty Allah.
Holy Quran speaks about Tawakkul as , ‘’Do not lose hope,nor be sad. You will surely be victorious ifyou are true in faith’’. Muhammad (PBUH) said, “If you all depend on Allah with with due reliance,He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to birds which go forth hungry in the morning and return with full belly at dusk’’.(Book- Tirmidhi). Now “Love of Beloved Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)’’ being the most important thing is the only remedy that serves as a permanent treatment to all the worldly miseries. The importance of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) for the mankind is explained by the holy Quran at numerous places.One such verse reads as, “It is more fitting that they should please Allah and His Messenger(PBUH) (9:62). Another most read verse of surah Ahzab of holy Quran commands true muslims to invoke blessings on the Beloved Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). Tawakkul or faith in Allah is only possible when we do love the great Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) more than everything in the world as Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) Himself said that, “None of you have faith until I am more beloved to him than his children,his father and all of the people’’. Thus Tawakkul and ishq i Rasool(PBUH) go hand in hand. Poet of the east,Allama Iqbal after discussing the worldly miseries faced by the mankind across the globe,came to the conclusion that ishq i Rasool(PBUH) is the only permanent and everlasting solution to all the problems.
Quoting Allama;
کی محمد سے وفا تو نے تو ہم تیرے ہیں
یہ جہاں چیز ہے کیا لوح و قلم تیرے ہیں
