New Delhi : President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various top political leaders expressed grief on the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday.
President Droupadi Murmu: ‘Dharti Putra’ Mulayam ji was a veteran leader and was connected with the land. He was respected by people of all parties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi: Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Jayaprakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia. He was a key soldier for democracy during the Emergency.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah: During the Emergency, he raised his voice for the restoration of democracy. His death marks the end of an era in Indian politics.
Former prime minister Manmohan Singh: He was a great Parliamentarian and a distinguished administrator who devoted his whole life to the service of the poor and other backward communities.
Former PM H D Deve Gowda: He was deeply committed to the secular and socialist political traditions.
BJP leader L K Advani: Mulayam Singh ji’s demise has left a huge void in the political arena. His dynamic persona will continue to inspire many generations of Indians.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi: The voice of socialist ideas has fallen silent with the demise of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi: He was a true warrior of grassroots politics.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati: The news of the death of senior SP leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is saddening. I express my sympathies to his family members and well-wishers.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar: He was a towering socialist leader who never compromised with the interests of the poor and the farmers.
Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah : President J&K National Conference and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Party’s Vice President Omar Abdullah have also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of founder-patron of the Samajwadi Party ShriMulayam Singh YadavJi.
According to a statement issued from Party Headquarters, in his condolence message, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, “I received the news about the passing away of Netaji with utmost grief and pain. Swathed in the teachings of Jai Prakash Narayan and Dr. Lohiya, Netaji’s life and politics cannot be encapsulated in a few lines. Known for his political tenacity and touch with the grassroots, he was a seasoned politician, and distinguished parliamentarian. His death marks the end of an era. I pay my humble tributes to him and pray for peace to his soul. I also express my deepest sympathies and condolences with the entire bereaved Yadav family including his son AkhileshYadav and numerous followers of his.”
In his condolence message, Omar Abdullah said, “I join my father & all my colleagues in conveying our heartfelt condolences to AkhileshYadav& his entire family. Netaji was a towering personality & his contribution to UP & the rest of the country will not be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.”
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, the Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone and HasnainMasoodi have also condoled with the bereaved family, prayed for peace to departed and fortitude to bereaved to bear the irreparable loss.
