J&K Institution of Engineers observes 55th Engineers Day in Srinagar

Srinagar :  The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre, Srinagar, on Thursday observed 55th Engineers Day to commemorate the birthday of legendary engineer Bharat Ratna Sir MokshagundamVisvesvaraya.

The event was attended by huge number of participants including Executive Committee Members of IEIJKSC, Corporate Members of IEI, field Engineers, Engineering Students, Research Scholars and Experts.

Principal Secretary, Public Works, Shailendra Kumar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Engineer Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Former Advisor to Governor of J&K and Engineer AtharAamir Khan, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation were guests of honour on the occasion.

Dr.Rouf Ahmad Khan, Chairman, IEI J&K State Centre welcomed the guests and Er. FirdousAhadBhat, MIE, Honorary Secretary, IEI J&K State Centre coordinated the event.

The event was started with the garlanding of the portrait of Bharat Ratna Sir MokshagundamVisvesvaraya.

The speakers highlighted contribution of Legendary Engineer in the engineering field.

While addressing the gathering, Shailendra Kumar praised the work of Engineers in all sectors and especially the work done during COVID 19 pandemic. He emphasized the need of being more innovative and more transparent for better public deliverance.

Er. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai said that Engineers are very important part of the society and they need to be more holistic in approach for sustainable development of J&K.

Er. AtharAamir Khan highlighted the importance of Engineers Day and deliberated at more Mechanization is being adopted in the system for smart services especially in Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

Various in-service and former Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and other dignitaries also attended the workshop including Er. Farooq Ahmad Wani (Former Chief Engineer), Er. Mohammad Ashraf Fazili, FIE (Former Chief Engineer), Er. BasharatJeelaniKawoosa, Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE), Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir, Er. Rashid Ahmad Dar, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir, Er. Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq, Chief Engineer, PW (R&B) Department, Kashmir &Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Kakroo (MIE), Chief Engineer, Srinagar Smart City Limited.
