Raipur: Throwing down the gauntlet at the Hydra-like menace of Left-wing extremism, Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah emphasised on Saturday that coordinated endeavours between the central and state dispensations are imperative for stamping out the scourge.
“The struggle against militancy and Naxalism is not limited to the sphere of the Centre and the states but involves the larger developmental issue. Until such time that both perils are eliminated, true development of any country or state is impossible,” the visiting leader averred while inaugurating the National Investigation Agency’s office in the Chhattisgarh capital.
Extending his greetings to the state’s populace on the occasion of Pola, Mr Shah highlighted the fact that our ancestors carefully thought out various festivals; this one is associated with rice and witnesses worship of material associated with the agrarian sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “Be it extremism or militancy, such people are foes of humanity therefore we should support all agencies that are working against the perpetrators. With the cooperation of the central Home Minister, a speedy end can be ensured for Maoism, which is a ‘legacy’ received with Chhattisgarh’s formation. As a direct consequence, personnel attained martyrdom and civilians perished. However, we have succeeded in pushing the rebels onto the back foot. The state-level law-enforcement authorities, Central Armed Police Forces plus agencies, political personages and commoners alike are worthy of gratitude.”
