S P College, J&K AIDS Control Society Jointly organize debate, poster, painting & Rangoli competitions

Srinagar : The Red Ribbon Club of S. P. College, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society on Thursday organized daylong events as part of ‘International Youth Day’.
In the morning session an inter-college debate competition on the theme ‘Nuclear & Joint Family System in our Society’ was conducted. As many as 22 participants from different colleges participated in the event and presented their thoughts on the topic.
The guests of honour on the occasion were Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir (Dean Academics S. P. College, Srinagar), Dr. Deeba Sarmad (Dean Social Sciences, Cluster University Srinagar), Prof. Roohi Tariq Khan (HoD English) and Prof. Syed Jeelani Andrabi (Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar).
In the afternoon, a series of events including poster making competition on the theme ‘Ageism: Creating a World for All Ages’, and face painting and rangoli competitions on the theme ‘Intergenerational Solidarity’ were organised.
Students in large numbers from different colleges participated in the competitions. Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir encouraged students to participate in such programmes and appreciated the organisers for providing a platform to the students in expressing their thoughts and views.
Prof. Syed Gulzar Ahmad (convener), Prof. Mohammad Altaf Sofi (co-convener) and other members of the Red Ribbon Committee facilitated the day-long proceedings.
The judges for different events were Prof. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Dr. Jan Shabir Ahmad, Dr. Sameera Siraj, Dr. Inayat Rasool, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Wani, Prof. Nuzhat Rehman, Dr. Tabassum Ismail, Prof. Javeria Khurshid, Dr. Adfar Yousuf, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Najar, Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Tantray and Dr. Qazi Ashiq Hussain.
Students of the college namely Adeeba Rauf and Hareem Rauf moderated the debate competition.
