Homeguards Kashmir organise in Srinagar awareness session on ‘Rolling out of MoU’ in J&K

Srinagar: Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir organised an awareness session on ‘Rolling out of MoU in J&K’ in accordance with the advisory from Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society (JKACS) with regard to “Rolling out of MoU in J&K” here.
The session was presided over by Firdous Iqbal, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir and was attended by Ghulam Hassan Sumji, DySP Area Commandant Homeguards Srinagar cum Principal CTI HG/CD Kashmir, Dr.Mr. Mohammad LateefCharoo, Sr. Medical Officer (ART) SKIMS, Sabiha Iqbal, Assistant Director, Mainstreaming, JKACS, officials of Homeguard Office Kashmir, Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers of Srinagar/Budgam.
In his welcome address, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir (Nodal Officer Kashmir Province) gave a brief about the awareness session.
During the programme, Sr. Medical Officer (ART) had a detailed interaction with the participants who sensitized them about the disease, modes of communication/transmission, precautions, medication, among others. He informed the participants on risk of getting or transmitting HIV particularly with using syringes/needles recklessly and the reports of such activity being undertaken by those addicted with substance abuse/drug menace.
He also sensitised the participants about the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTCs) of Kashmir and the other associated assistance/guidance rendered by the concerned agency.
During the session, Assistant Director, Mainstreaming, KACS sensitized the participants about the corresponding legal aspects besides the importance of holding of further identical events in future also.
The session evoked an animated response from the participants and the queries thereof were accordingly addressed to by the concerned JKACS officials.
