Changing societies and our Role

“Did we change; did we ask ourselves am I better than yesterday?”

There are ample issues in our society like heinous crimes, rape, robbery, innocent deaths, kidnapping, pollution of environment, traffic mess, bribery, rumors, harassments, child abuses, drug abuse etc.Everybody thinks of changing the society and has countless suggestions to do so, but how many of us are ready to offer hand to and take stand for. We are well aware of these growing problems and know how to fix such situations but are not prepared to be responsible.Everyday we are facing such growing problems in our societies but we did unnoticed them. When such things happened in our societies we see and act like Roberts and think that its not happened with our family and when done with our family at that time we regretted and wished that if I take immediate steps at right time and help the victim’s family then such things were not happened with us too. We have extraordinary ideas but expect others to take initiatives. We all want change but none wants to act. We expect corruption be wiped off from our societiesbut we don’t hesitate to offer bribe to get our work done. Every day we see woman harassments, deaths, rapes, drug abuses, robbery but we never say a word against the culprits even if we know them, because we think that it’s not our duty and is not happened with our families. While government is preparing aplan to rejuvenate our rivers, we don’t hesitate and forget our habit of throwing garbage into it, which is the major source of drinking water for majority of the families and such act will pollute these water bodies and the water become unfit for use and then the same people block roads, highways during it’s unavailability. We all hate to see the huge dumped garbage on roads, river side, paths and the improper disposal of these hazardous and smelly waste on open plots. We expect our government to step up and solve this problem but we never take part in it and understand our responsibility to help the govt in controlling the dumping of wastes in such open areas which in turn becomes heath hazardous for us. Won’t a small change in habit make the government’s job easier. Daily we see juveniles using drugs and doing immoral activities but we have no courage to say a word or inform their families so that they may take appropriate steps at right time. Our negligence finally burns our homes too when our own kids become victims of the fire and then we realize the pain. Have you ever realized that offenders are neither caught nor punished because we never complain? We should raise our voice and help govt. and legislators to stop those who are involving in such immoral activities.
Change is a slow process contribution, no matter how large or small, makes a difference. We must bring about a change in the way we think and act before expecting a miraculous revolution. Everyone wants a change but they don’t want to be the first one. They think that they will be criticized but the less they know only great minds are criticized. e.g. example being an environmental specialist, during office hours I never use my AC of my cabin but when its requirement I use the fan that is more environmentally friendly that the ACs. After seeing my habit mostly officials in their cabins avoid the use of ACs. In ATMs and oil pumps I never take the paper receipt, I always use public transport instead of a private car. I clean water bodies when I see some waste into it, firstly I see people laughing at me but I avoid and continue my work not only this I advise and aware people about their individual responsibilities and I finally see that many are acting on my activities and advices. Change yourself to see change. It’s an old saving “Charity Begins at home” It’s time for action; mere lip service wouldn’t do much. Be the part of change and inspire others to emulate to bring revolutionary transformation. Let’s stop playing a blame game and cursing government, take onus on ourselves and contribute with whatever you can. Every little change shape up into big and has cascading effect. Don’t expect what the society will offer to you, introspect to find out what you can give to your society, as individuals make a society and Positive vibes are so contagious that they spread like smoke and fire. Light that fire within you first, it will enlighten your surroundings. Learn and emulate the winning culture and good habits before inculcating them to others.
