By transforming our habits, we can change our lives

Meaningful work is one where we feel an authentic connection between the work we do and a broader life purpose beyond the self.
Meaningful work helps people feel a part of something larger than themselves. They feel motivated by the tasks set before them and inspired to do their best possible work. When people have a position that feels significant, it helps them feel an authentic link to their career and society around them. Humans, generally speaking, like to know that the effort they put forth matters to the greater community. This might include the team they participate in, the company as a whole, or even their entire city or state. What this type of work involves will be highly individual, combining what matters most to a specific person with their unique mindset. When a person cares about their assignments and has an attitude for finding value and realizing the potential they have in this particular position, they set the stage for a rich and fulfilling career. In order to accomplish these goals, however, people need to understand the value that this consequential work might offer them as well as some places where they might find such an occupation. People have long studied the importance and value of creating an environment of meaningful occupations. They have found that when people feel a high level of attachment to the tasks in front of them, it helps to contribute to positive well-being in a variety of ways. Doing meaningful work means having a tight feedback loop between what you’re doing and how it relates to your larger purpose. And there’s no better way to get this sort of feedback than to conduct regular reviews. We can’t talk about meaningful work without addressing how idealistic it sounds. The modern world demands our undivided attention and focus. And the more things you add into your life, the more difficult it becomes to focus on those that matter. What makes our work meaningful? For many of us, this question rarely even enters our minds. Work is work, it supports other facets of our life, like raising a family or pursuing our hobbies. However, with a third of our life spent working, isn’t it worth the effort to try to make it a better, more meaningful experience? In the developed world in the 21st century, work has a strong emotional and social purpose. We use it to connect to our personal potential and also to contribute to our wider society. Creating space in our daily schedules to focus on high-impact work is essential. The more activities you add into your life, the more difficult it can be to pay attention to the things that really matter to us.
As finding meaningful work is a long-term process, it’s good to get both a micro and macro view. Meaningful work yields many benefits:
• It improves mental health
• It creates a strong sense of purpose
• It helps us to make new acquaintances and find new friends.
Doing meaningful work is vital in generating individual potential. In this sense, both the reason (the purpose of the work that is being completed) and the rouser (the ability to engage and inspire people to achieve that purpose) are closely connected. In fact, when people do meaningful work, they actually develop a sense of identity, worth and dignity. By achieving meaningful results, they grow and move toward their full potential. Somehow they have an opportunity to become who they are and to contribute to the improvement of their life and community. Whether you’re the employer or an employee, you need to put meaning into work. When one thinks of work, one often thinks of a job. But work is far more than a job. Although work certainly provides for basic subsistence needs and decent living conditions, this is not its only function. Work is, above all, an activity through which an individual is into the world, creates new relations, uses talent, learns, grows and develops an identity and a sense of belonging. So we must remember to put meaning into our work!
