Srinagar| April,20: Jammu & Kashmir  Employees Joint Action Committee (J&K EJAC) has extended its support to 21st April protest call of Casual daily wagers forum calling it justified, genuine and legitimate.
In a statement issued on Wednesday Spokesman of J&K EJAC said that an emergency meeting of core members of J&K EJAC Presided  over by its President Mohd Rafique Rather was held at Srinager. The meeting was attended by Shabir Ahmad Langoo, Syed Wajahat Durani, Farooq Ahmad Khan, Sajad Ahmad Parray, Nazir Ahmad Khan,Lateef Ahmad Mailk, Saleem Sagar, Mushtaq Ahmad Yatoo and others. In the hurriedly called meeting  the issues of Casual workers, daily wagers, adhoc & contractual employees and other temporary workers was discussed at length. The participants of the meeting, according to the statement, expressed dismay over the casual attitude and approach of the government towards the long pending genuine and legitimate issues of temporary employees and   called it inhuman and shameful, stating therein further that  leaders of J&K EJAC in one voice raised their concern on the miserable plight of thousands of these employees and their familes and said that this is unacceptable any more.
Speaking on the occasion President EJAC Mohd Rafique Rather stressed for a united struggle   in favour of these hapless and helpless employees so that government fulfills its commitment made with the leadership of EJAC from time to time to regularise the services of daily wagers. Rather said that it is unfortunate that these employees have been struggling for their regularisation since decades and no heed is paid to their demands. He said that hundreds of casual and daily wagers have sacrificed their lives in the line of their duty and not a single family has been compensated or rehabilitated so for thus leaving them to starvation.
Rather urged the government to immediately formulate a comprehensive plan to regularise the services of 61000 temperory employees, implement minimum wages act, compensate the families of those who died during their duties. He said that if the government fails to redress these human issues, EJAC will launch an agitation involving all employees and departments of Jammu & Kashmir in their support. Rather extended support to 21st April protest call of casual daily wagers forum under the leadership of Sajad Ahmad Paray and impressed upon  EJAC leadership to gear up for a decisive struggle in favour of the aggrieved employees so that justice is delivered to them.
