Shopian  The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Saturday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the formulation of Skill Development Action Plan (SDAP) under the centrally sponsored scheme Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) in the district through power point presentation.
Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to come up with a concrete proposal and plan for skills acquisition and knowledge awareness for youth to earn their livelihood. He said that the aim of the plan should be to upgrade the skill of the youth to make them employable.
Vaishya discussed the steps to be taken to strengthen the institutional mechanism for skill development, besides increasing access to quality and market relevant training for youth across the district and added that only those trades should be opted that have good scope of employment generation and market in the district.
The DC said that the objectives of SANKALP are to decentralise skilling initiatives in the ecosystem and called upon the concerned to address the ongoing challenges like bringing about convergence and infusing quality in skill development programmes.
The meeting took threadbare discussion for selection of various trades and it was given out that Dairy Farming Entrepreneurship, Sericulture Rearing, Dry Fruit Processing, Juice Processing, Mushroom Grower and other trades were selected.
The DC directed the officers to submit the skill development plan within the shortest possible time so that it is submitted to the concerned authorities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani, Lead District Manager J&K Bank, General Manager DIC, CAHO, CAO, CEO, DSHO, AD Fisheries, Principal Polytechnic College Shopian and other concerned attended the meeting.
