Srinagar : In view of Iconic Week Celebrations as part of Gram Swaraj Month, under the theme of “Child Friendly Villages” series of detailed interaction programmes were held with students at different Panchayat Blocks of district Srinagar.
The Interaction sessions were held on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad under ongoing Gram SwarajAbhiyan in Harwan, Khonmoh, Srinagar and QamarwariPanchayat Blocks of the district to provide a platform to children in Srinagar Panchayats to be heard in any judicial and administrative proceedings affecting the child.
During the programmes, the children seemed elated to be back to the schools and were seen enthusiastically participating in class activities. Interactions were also held with the members of the school staff to ensure that children feel safe at schools and are being provided all facilities including toilets and hot meals under Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
The Officers of Departments of Rural Development and School Education actively participated in the events and highlighted the importance of child friendly activities.
Meanwhile, events with regards to women empowerment were also held in all the blocks of Srinagar. The importance of empowerment of half the population was also highlighted during the event.
