Encounter breaks out in Kulgam

Srinagar: An encounter broke out on Monday between militants and government forces at Khurbatpora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said.
“Encounter has started at Khurbatpora area of Kulgam. Police and army on job,” the police said.
The firefight between militants and government forces took place after a joint team of security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where militants were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
