B’pora : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, a market checking squad Friday held a market checking in Chittaybandy and Aragam villages of the district and realized fine from erring shopkeepers.
Taking strong note of the complaints of over-pricing during the holy month, the district administration launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over-pricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.
The team lead by Naib-Tehsildar along with SHO Aragam conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, Meat Shops, Kiryana, Bakery and other vendors at different markets of Aragam and Chittaybandy.
On the occasion, Officers stressed on the traders to avoid over-pricing and other illegal and unethical practices and urged them to follow the rules in letter and spirit. They also asked the vendors to follow the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts.
They said that the drive will continue on a regular basis to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities.
