NIT Srinagar hosts 3rd OLIC meeting

Spl Hindi training sessions will be arranged for some officers of the Institute: Director

Srinagar : The Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) on Thursday held its quarterly meeting at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar to review the progress report of Rajbhasha on the campus.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal who is Chairman of OLIC appreciated the work of OLIC members and stated that all things are being streamlined for implementation of the Rajbasha on campus.
He said there is a need to promote and popularize the Hindi language among the people. The language has its own history and legacy.
In his message, Registrar NIT, Prof Syed Kaiser Bukhari said all directions from the Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) are being followed in letter and spirit on the campus.
“The important circulars from the Institute will be sent to ministry in bilingual form so that Raj Bhasha will be implemented in a phased manner on the campus,” he said.
In the meeting, the chair reviewed the last OLOC meeting points and instructed all members to complete the work jointly to implement Rajbhasha in a phased manner.
It was also decided that training sessions will be arranged for some officers of the Institute as per the rule of Dept. of official languages MHA. In which they will be given basic knowledge of the Hindi language, so they can read and write the language.
The work will be completed under the direction of Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Dar who is the Supervisor of Hindi Teaching, Rajbhasha Cell.
It was also discussed in the meeting that, in future, if there is a need to make any printing material including nameplates, rubber stamps, departmental boards, etc, in any department, a circular will be issued to make it bilingual (English, Hindi).
The members also discussed that efforts will be made the NIT Srinagar’s website full bilingual for which a web designer will be appointed. Sufficient space and other necessary facilities will be given to officers, employees of Rajbasha Cell for handling Hindi work, it said.
The meeting was attended by all OLIC members including Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, Chairman OLIC, Prof. (Dr.) B.A Mir (Dean P&D), Prof. (Dr.) A.Q Dar (HOD, Civil Engineering, Prof. Kowsar (HOD Chemistry), Prof. (Dr.) B. A. Mir, Dr. Mohd. Abid Bazaz (HOD, EE), Dr. Yeswant Mehta (HOD, MME), Dr. Mohd Noor Salam Khan (HOD, Chemical Eng.), Prof. A.H Bhat (Chairman, CSC), Prof Syed Kaiser Bukhari (Registrar), Dr. Srnibash Misra (SAS coordinator). Assistant Registrar, Mr. Mohd. Iqbal Dar who is a Hindi teaching supervisor attended the meeting.
Hindi Officer and Secretary of OLIC, Dr. Ravi Bhushan (EED), other coordinators including Dr. Brajesh Kumar (CHE), Dr. R.P. Shukla (Civil Eng), Dr. Neeraj Gupta (Dept. of EE), Dr. Brajindra Singh Sengar (Dept. of E&C), Dr. H.S. Pali (Dept. of ME), Dr. Amrit Pal Singh (IT), Dr. Atendra Kumar (Maths), Dr. Nasir F. Butt (HSSM), Dr. Mohd. Zubair Ansari (Physics), Dr. Amandeep Singh (T&P), Dr. Pramod Kumar Yadav (CSE), Dr. Prvan Kumar Katiyar (MMED), Dr. Mohd Aslam (Chemistry), DL Verma (S&P) and Dr. Sabzar Ahmad Batoo from Rajbhasha Cell was also present in the meeting.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Hindi Officer Dr. Ravi Bhushan (EED). He expressed his gratitude to Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal his continuous support to Rajbhasha cell.
