Block Diwas held at Harwan, DC Srinagar listens to public grievances

DM also inspects ongoing works of 220x33 KVA Power Grid Station, rejuvenation works of Sarband water reservoir

Srinagar: Continuing its endeavour to bring administration at the doorsteps of people living in remote and far-flung areas and for on spot resolution of their issues, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday held the weekly Block Diwas programme at Nayabat Office Harwan.
Vice-Chairman, District Development Council, Srinagar, Bilal Ahmad, other DDC, BDC, PRI members and people from various areas of Harwan Block like Dhara, Khimber, Fakir Gujjri, Syedpora, Theed, etc. participated in the Block Diwas.
Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Director Employment, Sub Divisional Magistrate East, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar North, District Panchayat Officer and other District Officers were also present on the occasion.
During the programme, delegations from different Panchayats, besides scores of individuals apprised the DC about the issues confronting them.
The DC interacted with the local people and received first hand appraisal about the public issues and demands.
He along with other officers gave patient hearing to the people and passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for time-boundredressal of public grievances.
The DC said the District Administration is taking all possible measures to ensure better civic facilities to the people particularly living in hitherto unattended areas of the district. He said various initiatives are also being taken to provide employment opportunities to educated youth of the area through different self-employment schemes launched by the LG Administration.
The DC further said that other measures are also being taken to attract tourists in Dara, Fakir Gujri, Harwan and other adjoining areas for socio-economic upliftment of local population.
The DC also directed for holding Employment Fair in Harwan Block to sensitize the local unemployed youth about the self-employment schemes of the Government.
Later, the DC visited various developmental sites including 220 33 KVA Power Grid Station and rejuvenation and beautification work on Historical Water Reservoir Sarband adjacent to Harwan Garden.
While inspecting the 220×33 KVA Power Grid Station being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 76 crore, the DC directed the concerned to accelerate the pace on the prestigious power project to ensure its timely completion. He said by commissioning the power Grid Station people of adjoining hamlets including Harwan, Tailbal, Burzuhama, Zukura will be benefited by way of improvised power supply.
The DC also visited Sarband Water Reservoir and took stock of the ongoing works undertaken for its restoration and rejuvenation.
On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned Engineers to expedite the leveling work along the banks/ boundary of the Sarband simultaneously besides take measures to increase the green cover around the Sarband.
The PRIs of the area accompanied DC during field inspection of the Developmental works.
