1.10 lakh vaccine doses administered to immunise livestock against various diseases

Srinagar: Continuing its endeavour to provide employment opportunities to theunemployed youth, the District.
The Sheep Husbandry Department on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad has provided employment avenues to a number of unemployed youth of the district.
Giving details, the Joint Director Sheep Husbandry Department, Dr Ajay Sudan said that as many as 23 unemployed youth were given employment opportunity to establish income generating sheep units of different Size(s) under ISDS, RKVY & BYSF Schemes.
Under the Tribal Sub Plan ‘’Mini Sheep/Goat Farm Scheme” 30 Sheep units of 10 Ewes were established thereby augmenting the livestock of the Tribal population.
Similarly, under Cluster Model Village “SAC to TSS” 26 beneficiaries were provided sheep unit of 10 ewes in Dara/Fakir Gujree area thereby generating means of livelihood for them.
Besides, Shearing Unit (Shearing machine & Generator set) were provided to 7 Sheep rearers who were well acquainted with the machine shearing.
Further to improve palatability of Feed and Fodder 23 chaff cutter machines were distributed amongst the farmers.
In order to disseminate scientific rearing of livestock 23 Training Awareness camps were also conducted across the district to sensitize the farmers.
It was also given out that to immunise livestock against various diseases 1.10 lakh vaccinations were carried out, while 1.89 lakhdewormings were given to the livestock to protect them from parasitic infestations.
During the current fiscal over 17,000 animals were provided therapeutic interventions against various ailments in the district, while 160 Rams were adjusted among various farmers to upgrade their livestock genetically.
