Administration should come up with a suitable mechanism of double shift of schooling instead of odd/even classes, which I educated earlier. We can start from 8.30 AM to 12.30 PM for Ist Shift and from 01:30 PM to 05:30 PM for 2nd shift. This will help to avoid Traffic Jamming during peak hours. It is possible From Mid-March till Mid-November in Kashmir Valley and is imperative to compensate the heavy loss. Situation is improving by the grace of Almighty and we should take advantages of sunny days. Faculty deficiency can be mitigated through contractual appointments for the session till recruitment board makes appointments. It is an obligation on teachers to make arrangements for capsule/crash course lectures, as the time (04 hours/shift) is very short, since extracurricular activities have to be included. A capsule course helps the learner to explore the basics & gives him/her a clear glimpse of it in a short time. It opens the child’s mind and boosts the academic performance. In such times, crash courses are useful and effective in strengthen learning and building up a stronger base. It should also aim to introduce new concepts in sciences and humanities.
Teaching and learning is an incredible asset and it should never stop, whatever may be the situation. It should change shapes and styles in exigencies, as it has done in past two years. If we are actively working to recognize the positive aspects of our life, we’ll naturally start to see silver linings in challenging situations. This short write up is in response of a question asked by journalist during the inauguration of Pontoon at Gilsar to P K Pole, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir regarding opening of odd/even classes, who assured him to make a suitable mechanism for fruitful outcome. As a teacher I felt it a moral obligation to suggest the government to make double shift of Schooling atleast from Class 5th Onwards from Mid March to Mid November every year. Children need continuous schooling, counseling and disciplining. Optimists see opportunities in every difficulty and in every situation. Even though roadblocks may be getting in our way, it’s important to remember that optimists are creative thinkers who can recover from setbacks and mishaps.
