4 drug peddlers in Srinagar, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar  : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and contraband substances besides, a cash amount of ₹1.25 lacs believed to be proceeds of narcotics crime was also recovered.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a police party of Police Station Kothibagh at a checkpoint established at Lal Chowk intercepted 2 suspicious persons identified as Sajad Ahmed Beigh son of Abdul Hamid Beigh resident of Aluchibagh & Aamir Mir son of Mohd Ashraf Mir resident of Mujgund and upon checking, officers recovered 21.5gms of brown sugar like substance from their possession.
Police in it’s statement further said that in yet another similar action another drug peddler was arrested on specific information by a police party of PS Kothibagh at a checkpoint established in their jurisdiction, stating therein further that the said drug peddler has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Shah son of Ghulam Qadir Shah Resident of Rawalpora Shopian and 25gms of heroin like substance was also recovered from his possession.
Police in it’s statement further said that a police party of Police Station Karal Khud at a checkpoint established at SRTC bridge intercepted a suspicious person identified as GhulamNabi Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Bagi Dilawar Khan Shamsipora Babdem and upon checking, officers recovered (10 bottles & 30 tablets) of banned psychotropic substances, 50 gram of charas like substance & Cash amount of ₹1,20,500 believed to be proceeds of narcotics crime from his possession.
Stating that the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Police in it’s above quoted statement said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
