Srinagar | Dec, 19 : Chairman Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) Aijaz Ahmad Khan on Sunday called upon the government to evolve a consensus over the proposed privatisation of power grid stations with both the agitating employees and as well as the people in general who as consumers are the stake holders. He also urged the government to concede the genuine demands of the employees particularly regularisation of the daily rated workers and casual labours.

In a statement issued on Sunday Khan said that a decision for a broader consensus through a structured process of consultations over the proposed privatisation of the power development department assets is the only way out and urged the government show laxity in it’s stand over privatisation in the larger interests of the people who as consumers are bigger stake holders in the power sector. He said that working of the health emergency facilities of the government are becoming the immediate casualties of the government and appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene in the matter to defuse the unwanted stalemate hitting the essential services amid rising intensity of covid pandemic. Khan also called upon the government to immediately concede all the wage demands of the employees engaged during last more than two decades and also announce their regularisation along with daily rated workers and daily wagers working in other departments. Khan issued the statement after presiding over an emergency meeting called by him to discuss the situation arising due to indefinite strike of PDD employees. The meeting was attended by senior EJCC leaders including Sheikh Aijaz,Ishtiaq Beig,Javaid Ahmad Akhoon,, Sohib Munshi, Farooq Ahmad Kawa, Rehmatullah Khan, Younis Matoo, Showkat Ahmad Nowsheri, Innayat Ahmad Nowshehri, Ab Qayoom Beigh and Iqbal Kanth.
