Maha Parinirwana Diwas observed at Udhampur

Udhampur  : District Administration Udhampur observed Maha Parinirman Divas with enthusiasm and gaiety by organizing an impressive tribute paying programme here at Dr Ambedkar Chowk.
Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The chief Guest hoisted the National Flag followed by singing of the National Anthem.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the life and works & contribution of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who drafted the constitution of India and was the first law minister of independent India. She advised the participants to follow the path of social Equality shown by Baba Saheb. The DC paid floral tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar.
Students of several educational institutions and civil society members also threw light on the life history, achievements & contribution of the great reformer Dr Bhim Rao Ram Ambedkar ji.
District Social Welfare Officer Nawaz Sharief also threw light on the achievements of Baba Sahib and highlighted the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the Social Welfare department for the welfare of economically weaker sections of the society.
Among others present on occasion were Councilor Pretty Khajuria of Ward Number-01; Warden Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel, Shakeel Ahmed; Joginder Pal District Manager SC, ST and BC Development Corporation limited; Former Director, Health and Family Welfare, Jammu Dr Chander Parkash besides representatives of Ambedkar Welfare Trust, Guru Ravi Dass, Guru Nabha Dass, and common masses were present on the occasion.
