Says “Nagulta-Razar, Gujad-Chirdi and Narsoo-Thanidhar roads undergoing restoration works”
Srinagar, | Sept: 24:Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary Thursday informed the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that the government has undertaken necessary measures for restoration and maintenance of roads affected by landslides, floods and other damages, to ensure traffic connectivity and minimise inconvenience to the general public.
The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Balwant Singh Mankotia.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the House that the government is closely monitoring the condition of the affected roads through the concerned field formations. He said that permanent restoration works have been sanctioned for identified damages, clear landslides and maintain road connectivity, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides and flood-related damages.
Giving a road-wise status, the Deputy Chief Minister informed the House that the Nagulta to Razar road comprises of two parts, with Part-I measuring 11.00 km and Part-II measuring 12.700 km, making a total length of 23.700 km.
Surinder Choudhary said that Nagulta-Razar Part-I was completed in January 2024, while permanent restoration works amounting ₹47.99 lakh have been sanctioned and are presently 75 per cent complete.
Regarding Nagulta-Razar Part-II, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the 12.700-km road was completed in October 2022 and is currently being maintained by the contractor. He informed that an estimate of ₹35.29 lakh has been framed for the permanent restoration of damage caused during 2026–27. He further stated that permanent restoration works, sanctioned at a cost of ₹95.73 lakh for damages caused by the 2025–26 floods, are already 70 per cent complete.
On the 17 Km long Gujad to Chirdi road, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that the road was completed in December 2021. Permanent restoration works amounting ₹35.19 lakh have been sanctioned and are presently 90 per cent complete, he stated.
Regarding the Narsoo to Thanidhar road, measuring 20.700 km, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the road was completed in June 2023 and is being properly maintained by the contractor. He informed that permanent restoration works amounting ₹31.99 lakh, sanctioned for damages caused during the 2025–26 floods, have been completed.
Surinder Choudhary further stated that regular slip clearance is being undertaken on the roads as and when required.
