Srinagar: 26 Kashmiri pandit employees in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have been issued an explanation notice for “unauthorizedly remaining absent from duties.”
An explanation notice issued by the District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag on November 9 said the office “tried to contact you telephonically and by other media, but you did not bother to resume your duties and you failed to join back to your duties”.
The notice read that the unauthorized absence from duties has “hampered the office work at the district as well as subordinate offices.”
“The poor beneficiaries and common people are badly suffering because of your unathorised absence,” the notice said.
The employees have been given two days time to resume their duties and also explain their position failing which action as warranted under rules shall be initiated against them.
A senior official of the department in the district said it was “routine” and has nothing to do with the current situation.
“Notices have been issued to many employees in the district who have remaining unauthorizedly absent,” the officer said
The notice was issued at a time when there have been a series of civilian killings which have triggered panic among the minorities and migrant workers. On November 8, a salesman of a Kashmiri Pandit shopkeeper was shot dead in the old city.
