Srinagar: As a part of ongoing Police Commemoration Week, Police have organised painting competition in Ganderbal and Budgam. Besides, a debate on “Role of Police in Society and Nation Building” was organized in Bandipora.
In Ganderbal, painting competition was organised at DPL Ganderbal in which 30 students participated. The competition was held under the age group of 14 years of both boys and girls of the district. Sabiya Nabi, Aashia Riyaz and Bisma Ashiq bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The function was inaugurated by SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar accompanied by Addl. SP Ganderbal and other senior officers of Police. Besides, Chief Education Officer and Zonal Education Officer Ganderbal were also present in the event.
SSP Ganderbal, appreciated the success and intelligence of students for taking part in such a unique event. He also stressed upon the young budding artists of the district to allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of art. Moreover, the winners of the competition were felicitated with cash rewards and appreciation certificates.
Similarly in Budgam, Police organised a painting competition at Spring Buds Higher Secondary School Ompora Budgam. 50 students in the age group below 18 years participated in the event. Iffat Wahid, Taha Tariq and Marifa Andrabi bagged top three positions respectively and were felicitated with cash prizes, mementos and participation certificates.
SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem appreciated the participating students and emphasized that students should express their thoughts through the medium of art. He further urged the students to take part in other cultural and art programmes as well and wished them luck for the future. Besides, multiple sports events including a Volleyball tournament, Carrom Championship and Cricket Cup are also being organised by the Budgam Police.
Meanwhile, Police in Bandipora in collaboration with Space Age Model Higher Secondary Institute Kaloosa Bandipora organized a debate on “Role of Police in Society and Nation Building”. On the occasion, SSP Bandipora Shri Mohmmad Zahid-JKPS, ASP Bandipora, DySP DAR Bandipora, Patron Mehboobul Alam Group of Education, Chairman Mehboob ul Alam College of Education were also present.
The event was organized to pay homage to the Martyrs of Police who laid down their lives for nation and simultaneously channelizing the talent of youth. In the debate competition, a large number of students participated and presented their views and thoughts on the given topic. The participants highlighted various positive roles played by police in society besides, highlighted the contribution of police martyrs who laid their lives in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for future generations.
On this occasion, SSP Bandipora said that the role of police in society is multidimensional and J&K Police is one of the most professional police force in the country to fulfill the expectations of the society. He further said that speedy modernisation is happening in police organisation with time to make it more & more professional and people friendly. The event was also addressed by ASP Bandipora, DYSP DAR Bandipora and Patron Mehboob Ul Alam Group of Education. Rida Noor, Afnan Mushtaq & Zeenat Tariq bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The winners & participants were awarded with trophies and certificates. Later on a cultural programme was also presented by the students. People have lauded the role of Police for organising such events and hoped that Police will organise such events in future to channelize the energy of youth into positive manner that will help in nation building.
