4 drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday police said that officers from Police Station Khrew during daily routine checking at Wahabsahab Khrew intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01M-7814 with four persons on board identified as Sahil Ahmed Jogi son of Manzoor Ahmed Jogi resident of Mattan Anantnag, Mohd Iqbal Bhat son of Ab Salam Bhat resident of Wahab Sahab, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Gani Sheikh and Ajaz Ahmed Sheikh son of Ab Rehman Sheikh both residents of Shar Shali.
Stating that during checking, officers recovered 11Kgs of contrabands substances (5kgs Poppy Straw and 6kgs Cannabis) from the possession of the above named accused arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s above referred statement further said that vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In a concluded para of its above referred statement police said that a case vide FIR No. 76/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khrew and further investigation is in progress.
