Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora & Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said that in Awantipora, a police party of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Literabal Pampore intercepted two persons riding a scooty bearing registration number JK13F-1366.
Stating that the above named accused They have been identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Rehman Bhat resident of Nihama Kakapora and Ab Hamid Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir resident of Kadlabal Pampore, police in it’s statement further said that during checking 13 Kgs of Poppy Straw were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, adding therein that scooty used in commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in the above referred statement also said that in another similar incident Police Station Kulgam received a specific information about a person namely Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Gani Mir resident of Hadigam having indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house. Stating that on receiving the said information a Police party of PS Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific location, police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement said that 6.5Kgs of dried cannabis were recovered from the said residential house following which the above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
