Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, former chief ministers—Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, J&K Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari, Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone, PDF Chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and several other leaders on Tuesday evening condemned the killing of prominent chemist Makhan Lal Bindroo, owner of Bindroo Medicate and a vendor and a Sumo driver.
Condemning the killings the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that he was deeply anguished to hear about the attack on Makhan Lal Bindroo, owner of Bindroo Medicate. “I strongly condemn this cowardly act. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice very soon,” he said. In another tweet, he said, “I strongly condemn the killing of civilians Virender Paswan and Mohd Shafi Lone by (militants). The barbaric act of killing innocent people is against humanity.”
He said militants “will never succeed in their nefarious designs, and those responsible for such heinous acts shall be brought to justice”, adding that
“ My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief.”
Condemning the killings the National Conference President and Member Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah said “brutal and dastardly killing of three civilians in Kashmir that took place within a span of few hours are condemnable”, adding that
“I’m extremely heartbroken to hear about the dastardly killing of noted businessman ML Bindroo ji, Mohammad Shafi Lone of Naidkhai Bandipora and a non local Virender Paswan. The heart wrenching mindless violence has saddened me. Such barbarism should be denounced downrightly at all levels.” He said there is no humanity found in those who have orchestrated the blood bath. “Yet another childhood has been lost. Yet another family has to live in pain for perpetuity. There is no humanity to be found within those who perpetrate such heinous acts of inhuman, outrageous, and thunderous violence,” he said . “The targeted attacks that took place within a few hours have devoured three precious lives. No sympathies can assuage the families who have lost their loved ones and no one could even remotely empathize with the calamity that has befallen the victim’s families. I pray for strength to them at this difficult time. I share in their grief and sorrow,” he said.
While condemning the brutal killings, Omar said that no words are strong enough to condemn the dastardly acts of violence. “Such deplorable acts only leave behind a trail of pain and suffering. No amount of condemnation is enough to censure such acts of violence. Even the words of condemnation after such attacks sound hollow. This is the handiwork of enemies of peace and humanity. May all those who have fallen prey to the wanton act of barbarism find eternal peace. I also pray for fortitude to bereaved families to bear the inconsolable loss,” he said.
Mehbooba Mufti said “Condemn the killing of M L Bindroo who chose to stay back in Kashmir even during peak insurgency. Such acts of violence have no place in our society. May his family find the strength to deal with this loss.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday evening PDF Chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen while condemning killing of Chemist M L Bindroo by unknown gunmen , said that spate in civilian killings by unknown gunmen in recent days has assumed alarming proportion . He has urged the government to unearth the so-called unknown elements and agencies behind gruesome killings of civilians. He said, it looks, deliberate attempts are being made by the enemies of peace to create bitterness in the age old relations of brother hood and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.Hakeem said that ‘ Bindroo the famous chemist had been doing yoeman’s service to the people even in the most difficult times of turmoil in 1990 and stayed back when a large number of pandit community fled from the Kashmir in the atmosphere of fear and chaos’. Hakeem has expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family of late Bindroo.
CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned the brutal killing of Makhan Lal Bindroo, owner of Bindroo pharmacy in Srinagar.
“Late Bindroo stayed here in trying and difficult times and continued his service to the locals despite odds,” he said, adding, “It was a household name in Kashmir. His unfortunate death has sent shock waves. No words to condemn such a heinous and shameful act. This is indeed an irreparable loss for the whole society. We share the grief and sorrow of his shattered family.”
Expressing deep shock and grief over three civilian killings that took place in a few hours in Kashmir, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed the incidents as extremely barbaric, reflecting the inhuman nature of perpetrators behind these attacks. In a statement issued here, Bukhari condemned the killings of M.L Bindroo, a well-known pharmacist store owner in Lal Chowk, a non-local street vendor Virender Paswan from Bihar and another civilian identified as Mohammad Shafi from Shahgund Hajin area of Bandipora districts who were shot dead in cold blood.
