Srinagar: Kashmir University’s Centre for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR) on Wednesday organised an awareness camp in Baba Nagri area of Ganderbal district.
The day-long awareness camp was organised under the aegis of a project under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) to educate tribal women about the importance of personal health and hygiene.
Director CWSR Prof Tabassum Firdous led the camp along with her team of professionals and volunteers.
In her remarks, Prof Firdous said the CWSR has launched the Health and Hygiene Campaign in a mission mode with the larger objective of improving the health condition of tribal women.
“Our primary objective is to raise grassroots awareness in tribal areas about women’s personal hygiene. So far many such camps have been organised in Kashmir areas by the CWSR,” she said.
The Campaign, she said, focusses on creating awareness about different health issues like PCODs, Menorrhagia, Osteoporosis and Miscarriages among tribal women.
Dr Roshan Ara, Dr Shazia and Dr Fatima Buchh also spoke on the occasion and emphasised the importance of maintaining personal health and hygiene. The team was accompanied by two doctors including Dr Farah Deeba and Dr Misbah.
