Srinagar: Mobile internet service of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) remained suspended for the fourth day in the Kashmir valley, where authorities restored voice call and broadband of all TSPs on Friday night after two days.
Internet service and mobile service all companies, barring BSNL, was suspended on Wednesday night as a precautionary measure following the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who breathed his last at his residence at Hyderpora in the outskirts of Srinagar.
The voice call and broadband services of all TSPs were restored Friday night. However, broadband of BSNL was working without any suspension in the valley.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, K Vijay Kumar had said in view of the peaceful situation, mobile service (voice call) and broadband of all TSPs were restored on Friday night. Mobile service (voice call) and broadband of BSNL were never closed, he said.
However internet on mobile shall remain shutdown till Sunday afternoon, he said. People are yet again requested not to pay any heed to the rumours being maliciously spread by the anti-national elements especially across the border with an objective to disturb the prevalent peaceful atmosphere in the valley.
IGP Kashmir appeals to general public not to pay any heed to the rumours being maliciously spread by the Anti-National Elements (ANE) especially across the border with an objective to disturb the prevalent peaceful atmosphere in the valley.
Mr Kumar said several social media platform including Kashmir Media Service which are running from Pakistan have been trying to spread fake news and videos to instigate miscreants to disturb situations. Even a few local media persons and channels have been found spreading fake news, Mr Kumar said adding we are observing it, maintaining evidence and appropriate actions shall be taken against them.
