DCCRK to hold Book Review competition for Kashmiri students in Srinagar

Srinagar: In order to promote book reading culture amongst Kashmiri students, the Divisional Covid Control Room, Kashmir (DCCRK), is organising a book review competition for all students without any age bar.
The competition is being organised in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the virus has not only made human life stagnant but also has changed the education system severely across the world in the past 20 months.
Incharge DCCRK, Tahir Ahmad Magray said that the distinctive rise of e-learning and digital platforms throughout the globe has led to increase in screen time while attending classes adversely affecting student’s health.
“In order to refresh the minds of our students we have come up with an innovative initiative at Divisional level”, he said adding “the aim of such competition is to foster the pursuit of knowledge, creativity, ideas, stimulating culture of reading, learning, writing and values amongst the student community”.
Besides, another aim is to keep students engaged positively in the times of self-quarantine and social distancing.
He said that this will not only help the students develop and expand their language but will also improve their cognition and push them to think out of the box.
The competition is sponsored by Directorate of Libraries and Research J&K, Freshcode Books, Career Launcher and aspiration.ai.
All the students of Kashmir division from elementary to PhD scholars are eligible for the competition. The books for the review competition are already on the web page. Students are advised to select one book from the list for participation in competition.
