Hajin : Residents of Bonkikhan Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday held a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for failed to provide them with drinking water.
The protesters mostly women’s have blocked the Hajin-Spore road for hours together and disrupted the traffic moment to press for their demands.
The aggrieved residents said they are not getting drinking water regularly causing huge problems to them.
Raja a woman protester told Kashmir Horizon that we are not being provided the safe drinking water regularly which is giving them tough time.
Added that we have although brought the matter to concerned department but no attention is being paid towards our genuine demands which forced us to hit streets.
The locals said we are facing hue inconvenience due to non availability of safe drinking water since few days.
Our woman folks had to walk miles to fetch drinking water from the river, the taps are dry from many days now and department is not taking any measures to get the problem resolves once for all, we are being forced to the drink the polluted water ,They said
The locals have said that we are being forced to come on roads to protest against the department to press our demands.
