Srinagar: A woman, who had sustained bullet injuries in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Friday, succumbed in a hospital in the summer capital, Srinagar.

“After battling for her life for about two days, the woman, identified as Shakeela Banu, succumbed to her injuries at SHMS hospital in Srinagar on Sunday evening,” official sources said.

They said Shakeela Banu sustained bullet injuries at Darganie Gund in Tral in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. “Her husband and in-laws took the woman to a nearby hospital in Aripal from where she was referred to Sub District Hospital Tral. “The In-laws didn’t disclose to the doctors that she has suffered a bullet injury at the hospital,” they said.

“In-laws informed the doctors that Shakeela was suffering from an abdominal pain/heart problem. The woman was then referred to SHMS hospital in Srinagar, where the doctors diagnosed that she has a bullet injury,” they said.

Later a team of Police from Police Post Aripal was rushed to the residence of the injured woman. “The team during search recovered the empty bullet cartridge,” they said.

“Police has registered a case FIR No. 25/2021 under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation into the incident,” they said, adding further evidence is being gathered.
