Police book 95 traffic violators, 36 for smoking at public places in Srinagar

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police challaned 95 persons for violating various sections of traffic rules while 36 others were smoking at public places in Srinagar, a police spokesman said.
He said in its continued drive Srinagar Police acted tough on the violations of Motor Vehicle Act and Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) during day-long checking on Wednesday.
He said a total of 95 Traffic challans under various sections have been registered. A total of 36 challans have been registered against persons smoking at public places and violating the COTPA rules.
With this, over 400 persons were challaned for violating traffic rules and about 200 for smoking at public places in Srinagar during the past six days.
Public have appreciated the efforts of Srinagar Police in keeping a close check on the violators and is ensuring a safe movement of public on roads and a healthy stay at public places.
