DC Ang chairs meeting of DDCs for nomination of stakeholders under FRA

Ang: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, K.K.Sidha Friday convened a meeting of District Development Council (DDC) members on formation of various committees under Forest Rights for scheduled tribes and other forest Dwellers Act 2006 (FRA) at DC office here.

The DC asked them about constituting Forest Rights committees from each Panchayat with 10 to 15 members wherein at least two- third members shall be the Schedule Tribes and not less than one third of such members shall be women. The FRC shall decide on a Chairperson and a Secretary and intimate this to the Sub Divisional level committee.

He asked them  for the constitution of Sub Division level committees comprising SDM, RO, Tehsildars, BDO’s, elected DDC members and BDC’s and  District Level Committee where DDC, DFO’s, ACD, DPO and nominated DDC members.

Sidha asked the DDCs to prepare a comprehensive need assessment plan under various sectors including Agriculture, RDD,  Social Welfare, Forest, ICDS, Employment and  Labour so that actual beneficiaries are covered under various Schemes for the next financial year as the funds will be allotted directly to the DDC’s.

He stressed them for making coordination with SDM’s, Tehsildars and BDO’s to conduct awareness programmes.

DDC directed the DFO Anantnag to organise training sessions and mass awareness camps for DDC’s and BDC’s regarding Forest Rights Act.

The meeting was also attended by ADC, DFO and Chief Warden Wild life Anantnag.
