DC Kulgam flags off 60 Farmers to exposure visits under HADP

Kulgam,: Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Kulgam Wednesday  organised two exposure visits for farmers of the district under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) 2026-27.

The visits are aimed at providing farmers with practical exposure to modern agricultural technologies, scientific farming practices and successful models of agricultural diversification.

Under the first exposure visit, a group of 30 farmers from Kulgam will visit Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, for a period of six days under the promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants component of HADP 2026-27.

Similarly, another group of 30 farmers will undertake a six-day exposure visit to Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, under the promotion of Floriculture component of HADP 2026-27.

The exposure visits shall also enable farmers to learn about the latest developments in agriculture and allied sectors through interaction with agricultural scientists, experts and progressive farmers. The participating farmers will get an opportunity to observe modern farming techniques, improved varieties, protected cultivation practices, post-harvest management and other innovative approaches being adopted in different parts of the country.

The visits will also provide practical knowledge about value addition, grading, packaging, storage and market-oriented farming, besides encouraging farmers towards diversification and adoption of high-value crops and allied activities.

Exposure to successful agricultural models is expected to help farmers identify suitable practices that can be replicated in their own areas.

The event was also attended by CAO, Mohd Rafiq and other officers and officials of the department.
