SMC warns stern action against illegal constructions in Srinagar areas

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation is going to act more sternly against the illegal constructional activity taking place in Srinagar city especially in and around the areas adjacent to Narkara wetland, Ancharsar, Gilsar, Khushaalsar, and Hokarsar.
In a statement issued on Tuesday the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) said that to preserve and protect the water bodies from further encroachment and illegal occupation, the inhabitants residing around these places are advised not to indulge in any illegal constructional activity of residential, commercial, Industrial or of any nature.
The SMC in it’s statement also said that the earth filling too is strictly prohibited in the above mentioned areas. “A tight vigil is being kept on constructional activities and the structures that are found to be constructed without building permission or getting deviated from the approved building plan will be strictly dealt with” the statement reads, adding that “Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali has passed on directions to the Enforcement wing to implement with the directions to act upon the prepared list of illegal structures that had come from time to time in letter and spirit and rigorously conduct demolition drives with regard to unauthorized constructions in the said areas”. The statement also said that Commissioner SMC has appealed Srinagar residents to desist from any sort of constructions in the said areas lying arround water bodies.
