Police Foils JKCSF’s Peaceful Sit in Protest in Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Monday Foiled J&K Civil Society Forum’s Peaceful Sit-in Protest against New land Laws and Demographic Change. Witnesses said the protest was held near Press enclave in Srinagar. It is Worth to Mention that Police had already seized Pratab Parak Srinagar and Press Enclave Srinagar to Stop Leaders of Civil Society from holding this Protest. All the entry and exit points of Press Enclave Srinagar were seized by Police to Foil this protest. The leaders of the forum still managed to hold this Protest. During this Protest, Qayoom wani, the Chairman of the Forum including dozens of Civil Society Forum Leaders were detained by Police and lodged at Kothi-bag Police Station Srinagar. The detained leaders are Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, Farooq Ahmad Trali, Firdous Ahmad Bhat and orthers. While talking to Media, Wani said that Centre’s New Land Laws and Demographic Changes Pertaining to the People of J&K are totally unacceptable. Wani added that Government has Put Curbs on our Freedom of Expression. He said that “We won’t tolerate this Colonial Approach of Government”. Wani said that Centre has to listen to the grievances of the People of J&K and dissent voices. He termed New Land Law and Demographic Change a War against the rights of the People of J&K. Wani also said that Civil Society Condemns Change in employees Civil Services Regulations (CSR). All the Leaders of the Forum were holding Play Cards in their hands, Mentioning “New Land Laws and Demographic Change unacceptable”. The Leaders of the Forum were heard saying “Gunda Gardi Nahi Chalay gi”. Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani has termed foiling of Protest by Police very unfortunate. It is important to mention here that this protest in which hundreds of Civil Society Forum Leaders and Members Participated has Forwarded a strong message to the government that New Land Laws and demographic changes are totally unacceptable. The Main leaders who participated in today’s Protest besides police barricades were, Nusrat Ahmad Beigh, Ab Qayoom Rafiabadi, ukhtaar Ahmad Tantray, Haji Farooq Lone, Mohd Auyoub Mir, Dr Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Ahmad Kandi, Er Iqbal, Mohd Shafi Kambay, Pushpindar Singh, Shabir Ahmad, Shahid Khan, Reyaan Ahmad, Shiraz Ahmad Rather, Advocate Safeer, Advocate Saqib, Advocate Owais and others.
