Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Dhood Ganga bund Kakasarai Karanagar intercepted a Chassis passenger Auto with two persons on board. They have been identified as Umer Irshad Khan resident of Naid Kadal Srinagar and Adil Ameen Kanth resident of Zonimar Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover contraband substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Karan Nagar where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 61/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation has been initiated.
Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
