ACB produces chargesheet against Puran Chand Bhagat, the then Divisional Manager, SFC, Udhampur in Trap case

Jammu: The Anti-corruption Bureau on Thursday produced charge sheet against accused Puran Chand Bhagat S/o Buti Ram R/o Chakroi, Tehsil R.S Pura, Jammu, the then Divisional Manager, State Forest Corporation (SFC) Udhampur in trap case before the Hon’ble court of Addl. District & Session Judge, Anti-Corruption Udhampur in case FIR No. 05/2019 under section 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act and section 4-A P.C Act (Amended-2014) registered against him in P/S ACB Doda.
The anti-corruption bureau in it’s official statement issued here on Thursday said that on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Romesh Chander (complainant) S/O Late Amar Nath R/O House No.100 Ward No.4 Court Road Udhampur on 21st May las year, a successful trap was laid against Puran Chand Bhagat, the then Divisional Manager SFC Udhampur and during trap the said officer was caught red handed by the trap team while demanding and accepting of Rs. 30,000/- from the complainant in presence of independent witnesses. The accused was arrested in the said case and subsequently bailed out by the Hon’ble court.
The complainant,according to the ACB statement, in his complaint had alleged that he is working as a contractor with State Forest Corporation Division Udhampur since last about twenty years and he has been allotted extraction/transportation/loading/un-loading work by the department in compartment No.45/76 Dudu Range District Udhampur since last about two and half years. The complainant, the statement said, has further stated in his complaint that payment of about 10% is due to him against the work done by him in the said compartments and for release of payment / preparation of documents, Puran Chand Bhagat, Divisional Manager, SFC Udhampur is demanding an amount of Rs.48,000/- as illegal bribe and insisted to him to pay Rs.30,000/- as advance and rest of Rs.18,000/- after release of the payment.
“After completion of the investigation the case was processed for obtaining Govt. sanction from the competent authority and after obtaining the sanction the case was chargesheeted in the competent court for judicial determination”, reads the statement. The next date of hearing has been fixed for November 20 this year.
