Srinagar/Sep,12:Urging the need for restoration of popular rule in Jammu and Kashmir to bridge the gap between the state and its people, Chairman , Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has said that common people were suffering for redressal of their day to day grievances. He said prevailing deep disconnect between administration and common people has added to their problems and miseries adding that developmental inertia has hit hard execution of all most all major projects of public importance.
Addressing one day Convention of PDF workers and office bearers on Saturday, Hakeem sought restoration of democratic institutions and civilian government in Jammu and Kashmir to redress grievances of the people. He said that deep disconnect between administration, bureaucracy and people has added to the hardships of people manifolds .He said developmental scenario has come to a grinding halt and the people have been left at the mercy of situation. He said security SOPs for entry into the civil Secretariat Srinagar have been made so harsh that common people are unable to visit administrative departments and concerned administrative secretaries to seek solution to their problems and follow their cases. Now the civil Secretariat was totally out of bounds even for HOD’s not to talk of a common man. He said LG Manoj Sinha has himself admitted that officers from administration and other departments of governance are not available to people and had been copelled to launch J&K IGRMS.
Hakeem said tall claims of the Central government that abrogation of special status in August 5 last year would usher in a new era of development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir have proved to be a total hoax pause. Saying that J&k’s economy has suffered immensely., Hakeem said in absence of a pragmatic employment policy, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been left in a total disarray . He said
two spells of lockdown — the first after Jammu and Kashmir was stripped of its statehood and its special constitutional status and the second related to COVID-19— have left the erstwhile State in total disarray. The tourism sector , which forms 8-10% of J&K’s GDP, was in shambles after the August 5, 2019 lockdown . He said it is estimated that in the 120 days after August 5, 2019, the 10 districts of the Kashmir Valley alone have suffered a loss of ₹17,878.18 cr. according to the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the state of joblessness haunts the youth miserably.
Hakeem said administrative inertia has forced daily wagers, casual labourers and contractual employees of various departments, who run almost all the important water works, power , irrigation and roads and buildings schemes, to come on roads and go for huger strike. He said every where there was acute drinking water and power supply shortage and the condition of roads was in a very bad shape causing great in convenience to the people. Hakeem impressed upon the Central Government to take early measures for restoration of a civilian government in Jammu and Kashmir to redress grievances of the people.
