Hours after gusty wind 95% power supply restored in affected areas: CE PDD (K)

Srinagar: About Hours after the windstorm wreaked havoc in Kashmir parts, the government on Monday said that 95 per cent power supply has been restored in Kashmir valley, which had got affected due to strong winds last evening.
Chief Engineer Power Development Department (PDD), Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Dar said that 95 per cent power has been restored and they are working to restore the remaining five per cent as well.
He said that hopefully by today late evening, the remaining five per cent power supply will also be resorted as the field staff was working on the ground to restore it.
Dar said the transmission line was affected and electric poles were uprooted at several places due to strong winds late last evening. “However, no loss of life or injury was reported from any part of the valley.”
Pertinently, gusty winds coupled with rain on Sunday evening caused massive damage to orchards, residential houses and uprooted trees and electric poles in various parts of the Kashmir valley.
Officials said due to strong winds, power supply had also got affected in many parts including Srinagar district.
They said that rooftops of dozens of residential houses were blown away due to strong winds in many parts including Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Sopore, Pattan, Sumbal and Bandipora.
“Several vehicles also got damaged due to the strong winds in several parts of the valley,” they said.
