Youth killed, another injured in Pak shelling in Poonch

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers take up positions at an outpost along a fence at the India-Pakistan border in R.S Pora south-west of Jammu on October 2, 2016. India has evacuated thousands of people near the Pakistani border in Punjab state following the military raids on militant posts, which provoked furious charges of "naked aggression" from Pakistan. The move followed a deadly assault on one of India's army bases in Kashmir that New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based militants, triggering a public outcry and demands for military action. / AFP PHOTO / TAUSEEF MUSTAFA

Srinagar/June, 20 ; Four persons, including a woman, were injured when Pakistani troops on Saturday afternoon resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing, targeting civilian areas and forward army posts in the Uri sector in north Kashmir’s  Baramulla  district, a defence ministry spokesman said .

Pakistani troops are violating ceasefire to help militants, waiting at launch pads near the Line of Control (LoC), to cross over into this side from Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK), Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said. Col Rajesh Kalia said Pak troops on Saturday fired mortars shells and resorted firing with automatic weapons, targeting forward posts at the LoC and civilian areas in Hajipeer area in Uri sector . A shell fell in village Nambla in Rampur causing injuries to four civilians. The injured were later shifted to Sub District hospital Uri, they added. The injured, included as Sakeena Begum, Maqbool Ahmad Mangral and Ahmad Sheikh. He said befitting response is given by Indian troops.
