New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 tally surged to 320922 on Sunday, with 11,929 fresh cases reported, highest single-day spike.
The death toll also rose to 9,195 with a single-day spike of 311 fatalities.
On the recovery front, the country is doing well as the number of cured has already surpassed the active number of cases.
According to Health Ministry’s update, cured and discharged cases at present stand at 162378, which is 13030 more than the active cases in the country (149348).
A total of 8084 patients have reportedly recovered since Saturday, the government data revealed.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan will hold a review meeting with Delhi L-G and Chief Minister over the national capital’s COVID situation at 1100 hours.
Situation in the city has raised concerns as the cases are increasing rapidly.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state in the county.
Maharastra’s COVID-19 tally has now reached 104568, with a fresh spike of 3427 infections since Saturday, and now the state has 3830 deaths due to the contagion after 113 more people lost their battles in the past one day.
Recording its the second-highest spike, Tamil Nadu’s tally has jumped to 42687 after adding 1989 fresh cases
in the past 24-hour, while 397 patients have lost their lives to the lethal virus.
Delhi’s cases have surged to 38958 after witnessing a fresh spike of 2134 infections, while the number of casualties reached 1271.
Gujarat, after adding up 511 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, is now home to 23038 confirmed cases. As per the data, 15883 people have recovered in the state, whereas 1448 could not survive the contagion till date.
Uttar Pradesh is now housing 12118 cases, while the death toll in the northern state has increased to 385.
Rajasthan, which has slowest rate among all states, now has 12401 confirmed cases, while the death toll rose to 282.
West Bengal has surpassed Madhya Pradesh, with its the tally stands at 10698. Meanwhile, the COVID-related deaths in the state increased to 463.
Madhya Pradesh’s tally now stands at 10641 after registering 198 fresh cases and death toll reached 447.
Karnataka has added 308 fresh positive cases, taking its tally to 6824, while the number of deaths in the southern state stands at 81 after loosing two more people.
Haryana at present houses 6749 cases of COVID, while its death toll reaching 78.
Bihar now has 6290 confirmed cases, while three deaths have also been reported in the past 24 hours, taking its death toll to 39. UNI APS GK 1137
