Srinagar/ June,4:National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his immediate reaction to the revocation of the Public Safety Act (PSA) of two PDP leaders—Sartaj Madani and Peer Mansoor and IAS topper turned politician Shah Faesal has sought release of other detained leaders also particularly PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and two more National Conference leaders Ali Mohammad Sagar and Hilal Akbar Lone presently jailed under extended term of detention under Public Safety Act.
Taking to micro blogging social networking site twitter Omar wrote “Good to hear @shahfaesal, Peer Mansoor & Sartaj Madani have been released from their unjust PSA detention. Disappointed that @MehboobaMufti, Sagar Sb & Hilal Lone continue to be detained. It’s high time they are set free as well”, adding that “not to mention many others under informal house arrest for the last 10 months. It’s time the rule of law is applied to all equally & these leaders are allowed to leave their homes without their guards locking them inside without cause, justification or any detention order.”
Omar Abdullah was let off on 24 March 2020 after eight months of continued detention under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) . He was booked under the stringent act on February 5, hours before his six-month custody under preventive detention was to end.
