Hakeem voices concern over shell explosion at Tossamaidan, demands adequate treatment to the injured persons

Srinagar/May, 26: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF )Hakeem Yaseen has expressed concern over the explosion of an artillery shell at tourist spot Tossamaidan in central district Budgam , which has caused grave injuries to some local visitors. He has expressed sympathies with the injured persons and asked the district administration Budgam to provide adequate treatment to them .
In a statement issued here on Tuesday , Hakeem while expressing his concern over the explosion of the artillery shell at tourist spot Tossamaidan , has urged the government to undertake a fresh sensitisation exercise in the entire Tossamaidan area to clear it off from all the leftover shell and landmines . He said it was a matter of great concern that year after year ugly incidents of artillery shell explosions occur at Tossamaidan depite assurances from Army authorities that the area has been cleared off from all kinds of shells and land mines before handing it over to the civil administration.
It may be mentioned here that the picturesque Tossamaidan was being used by the Army as its firing range for decades and was recently handedover to the tourism department for promoting it as a new tourist attractions , in view of its enchanting and virgin natural beauty. Government has already sanctioned a separate tourism development authority for Tossamaidan.
