Srinagar: Panicked with the fear of COVID-19 spread in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujrat 22 students of Kashmir valley stuck in Ganhinagar have sought their immediate evacuation keeping in view the fact that Gujrat is the second worst hit state by the non stop COVID-19 spread. While Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole Via Kashmir Horizon asked them to contact the concerned nodal officer in Srinagar , the nodal officer told them to wait till the lists of stranded people registered on online portal are segregated district wise which would take them 3-4 days.
In his e-mail to “ Kashmir Horizon” one of the students Ishfaq Majid a Ph D scholar at the central university of Gujrat said “We are at least 22 students of J&K stranded at Gandhinagar Gujarat in University Hostels of Central University of Gujarat. Among these 22
students, there are 7 female and 15 male students”. Saying that “the COVID cases in Gandhinagar Gujarat are rising at a very high rate. We are fearful to go outside to purchase essential commodities. We have kept ourselves
self-quarantine from 17th March in University hostels”, the students sought the intervention of Jammu & Kashmir Government for immediate evacuation through bus or train as they remind the authorities to keep in consideration the fact that Gujarat state is rated the 2nd highest state in COVID cases and they don’t want to die here.
Clarifying that they have already registered on the link provided by J&K administration and also messaged the same to the concerned nodal officers, the students sought their immediate evacuation. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole when contacted choose to reply the queries of students through SMS messages and urged the students to contact the concerned nodal officer. However the concerned nodal officer asked them to wait for 3-4 days till the online lists are segregated district wise after which the J&K authorities will get in touch with the stranded students.
